Audit Manager, Credit Risk
An experienced Vice President is sought to lead audit coverage of Credit Risk Management and Enterprise Risk activities within the Internal Audit Department. The role requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in the banking and finance industry and a strong background in risk management and auditing.
Reporting to the Credit Risk Stripe Lead, the Vice President will oversee complex audits, provide subject matter expertise in risk management, and support the Stripe Lead in executing their responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Support the Internal Audit Department (IAD) Management team in planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining an internal audit program addressing financial risks across the organization.
Manage a team of auditors to execute high-quality reviews of credit, counterparty credit, and enterprise risk processes within established timeframes.
Serve as Auditor in Charge (AIC) for large-scale audits, ensuring adherence to audit standards, policies, and procedures with minimal supervision.
Provide coaching and feedback to audit team members, including internal and co-sourced professionals.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and senior audit management to articulate audit progress, findings, and corrective measures.
Assist the Credit Risk Stripe Lead in preparing audit reports and conducting regulator validations.
Conduct quarterly and annual continuous monitoring and risk assessments to identify emerging risks and recommend updates to the audit plan as needed.
Contribute to special projects related to business process improvements and departmental initiatives.
Track and validate the closure of issues identified by the department and regulators.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with business leaders, external auditors, and regulators.
Recommend and implement continuous improvement practices to align with new regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
A minimum of 8 years of experience in risk/audit within the banking and finance industry.
Expert knowledge of credit, counterparty credit, and banking/capital markets products.
Deep understanding of regulatory expectations, including Leveraged Lending (SR 13-3) and Counterparty Credit Risk (SR 11-10).
Proficient in audit techniques, risk assessment, internal controls, and workpaper standards.
Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and assess emerging risks.
Demonstrated ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior management, using discretion and sound judgment.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to lead and inspire teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
