Controller
Our client is a family-owned, leading food manufacturer dedicated to excellence in both product and service. They emphasize sustainability, innovation, and safety as they continue to expand. To support this growth, they are looking for an experienced Controller to enhance their financial infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Oversee the creation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, adhering to GAAP standards.
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
Ensure precise inventory accounting for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
Cost Accounting:
Develop and maintain cost accounting processes tailored to the food manufacturing industry, focusing on direct labor, materials, and overhead allocation.
Analyze production variances and offer insights to management regarding cost-saving opportunities.
Monitor product costing and margins to inform pricing strategies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts, ensuring they align with business objectives.
Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and sales teams to produce accurate production and sales forecasts.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide variance analysis along with improvement recommendations.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to protect assets and ensure financial integrity.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including food safety, environmental standards, and financial reporting requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
At least 10 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management.
Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
Experience with ERP systems (SAGE 100) and advanced Excel skills.
