Performance & Analytics Associate
A leading investment firm is seeking a Performance Reporting & Analytics Specialist to support the calculation, analysis, and presentation of financial performance data for internal and external stakeholders. This role will focus on performance measurement, investment strategy attribution, and analytics supporting marketing materials, fundraising efforts, client reporting requests, and executive decision-making. The position requires strong technical skills, process optimization, and collaboration across investor relations, investment teams, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and maintain the calculation of key investment performance metrics, including fund-level gross and net returns, return on investment (RoR), and internal rate of return (IRR).
Develop and manage complex Excel models for forecasting, cash flow projections, and fee waterfalls.
Analyze large, complex datasets and leverage visualization tools (SQL, Tableau, Power BI preferred) to synthesize insights.
Maintain market benchmarks and evaluate fund performance relative to industry standards.
Create customized investor presentations that highlight investment activity and valuations across multiple funds.
Prepare executive management reports and dashboards summarizing performance and financial insights.
Contribute to investor letters, client reporting, marketing materials, DDQs, and private placement memorandums (PPMs).
Collaborate with FP&A teams to develop financial models and key forecasting assumptions.
Work with Treasury and Financing teams to create reports on cash projections, dry powder, and counterparty exposure.
Develop ad hoc reports and customized presentations for senior executives and investors.
Identify process inefficiencies and automation opportunities, driving technological transformation in performance reporting.
Evaluate and implement tools to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with experience in financial modeling. VBA, Macros, and SQL knowledge is a plus.
Strong understanding of private equity and hedge fund performance metrics.
Familiarity with investment products, fund structures, and leverage/financing mechanisms.
Ability to think strategically, see the big picture, and drive operational improvements.
Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across teams and engaging with senior leadership.
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and excellence.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
