Risk Management Planning Associate

An opportunity is available for an energetic individual to take an integral role in the creation and development of executive risk management reporting, along with managing credit alarms, periodic risk reports to regulators, and internal stakeholders. This role involves working closely with the team manager to formulate agendas, distill and present complex risk information across various risk groups, and identify, extract, and analyze key risk issues in a concise manner for senior and executive audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the Early Warning Indicators (EWI) program, including defining the program scope, resource requirements, assigning roles and responsibilities, and escalating issues to stakeholders as needed.

  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to capture complex issues and drive initiatives. Proficient in creating PowerPoint presentations that visualize and simplify complex risk issues for executive and senior leadership.

  • Display agility and manage competing deadlines across multiple initiatives.

  • Contribute to the delivery of risk agendas across different risk groups and assist in coordinating the revision of presentation decks.

  • Possess a strong understanding of enterprise risk management, including credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk.

  • Translate numerical data into simple, digestible narratives tailored to the audience’s needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in a risk management function, either within large U.S. banks, financial institutions, or as a U.S. banking regulator, or working as a consultant in this field.

  • Strong project management skills with experience in articulating challenges, decision-making paths, and next steps, while building consensus and ensuring timely completion of risk materials.

  • Ability to translate key risk concepts into content that is easy to understand for senior management.

  • Strong interest in connecting risks to the changing economic environment and understanding their impact.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively use PowerPoint to present risk information.

  • Analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, with diplomacy when working with internal departments, senior management, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint.
