Senior Accountant, Family Office
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the general accounting and tax functions within the Family Office group, based in our New York office. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Prepare and produce comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
Reconcile monthly bank and investment accounts.
Oversee the filing of various tax returns.
Manage daily accounting tasks and maintain accurate records for multiple entities.
Assist in the preparation of 1099 NEC and MISC forms.
Act as a liaison with external advisors and financial institutions.
Review tax returns prepared by external CPA firms to ensure correctness.
Provide support in accounts payable, including processing payments by check or wire transfer as needed.
Assist in the collection of rental income on a monthly basis.
Contribute to special projects and generate ad-hoc reports as required.
Address and respond to tax notices promptly.
Prepare timely net worth statements, budgets, and other accounting reports.
Stay informed on current and evolving tax laws and practices.
Track charitable contributions and gifts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (CPA is preferred).
A minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting and/or tax, with a preference for experience in family offices or the real estate sector.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and tax processes; expertise in tax and estate planning as well as regulatory requirements.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and adapt to various audiences with professionalism and tact.
Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus.
