Trade Operations Associate, Bonds
The Trade Operations Specialist will be responsible for managing the complete trade life-cycle for a variety of financial products, including US Treasuries, corporate bonds, mortgage securities, foreign government and corporate bonds, and repo trades. This role involves direct oversight of trade settlements, coordination with custodians and prime brokers, and handling trade-related queries. The position requires close attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks related to settlement deadlines.
Principal Responsibilities:
Oversee the full trade life-cycle for key financial products, ensuring accurate and timely processing of trades.
Manage trade settlements directly with custodian banks and prime brokers, ensuring compliance with deadlines set by the Federal Reserve and Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTC).
Serve as a primary point of contact for internal teams, counterparties, and custodian banks, handling trade confirmations, fails, corporate actions, and related issues.
Reconcile daily cash, positions, and trades, resolving breaks promptly and efficiently.
Manage intraday cash flow related to trade settlements, working closely with prime brokers to ensure smooth processing.
Handle monthly principal and income (P&I) processing and resolve any discrepancies with agent banks.
Participate in operational control and governance initiatives aimed at reducing operational risk.
Qualifications and Skills:
Undergraduate degree in a business-related field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Accounting).
3+ years of experience in financial services, with a preference for experience in hedge fund operations or similar environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact clearly and concisely with portfolio managers and senior management.
Proven ability to work independently and efficiently manage day-to-day tasks as well as special projects.
Experience with bonds and/or repo trades is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong attention to detail.
Well-organized, able to multitask, and manage various deadlines effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply training to real-world scenarios quickly.
