Valuations AVP

The primary role of the Assistant Vice President, Valuations will be to develop financial models, research industry and market trends, evaluate company financials, and perform investment valuations. In addition to valuations, the team handles various ad hoc and recurring analyses related to portfolio monitoring and reporting. The AVP will also be actively involved in projects and technology initiatives to support a rapidly growing business. An ability to manage multiple tasks while working under strict deadlines is essential. The ideal candidate is independent, motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of analyzing data and effectively conveying conclusions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in day-to-day team management, including deliverable tracking, model development, valuation model reviews, presentations to senior leaders, and completion of ad-hoc deliverables.

  • Lead the completion of valuation models in line with the organization’s valuation policy and requisite external guidance, ensuring consistency and accuracy of inputs in collaboration with the investment team.

  • Coordinate activities and materials for the Valuation Committee, focusing on identifying and presenting trends and performance drivers relevant to the business.

  • Drive enhancements by leveraging offshore resources and technology, and updating policies, procedures, processes, and methodologies in accordance with ASC 820 Fair Value Measurement and industry best practices.

  • Synthesize data to support, challenge, and reconcile conclusions, including back testing and stress testing.

  • Act as a liaison for external auditors and third-party valuation firms, managing inquiries and maintaining valuation integrity.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for valuation-related projects, such as regulatory reviews, new business initiatives, and current market practices relating to valuation issues.

  • Assist in the ongoing training and development of analysts and associates.

  • Collaborate across functions, including Capital Markets, Credit, Deal Originations, Marketing, and Asset Management teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business.

  • 6+ years of related work experience in valuations, transaction services, private credit funds, consulting, or other relevant analytical roles, with a strong knowledge of key financial metrics, capital structures, and financial statements.

  • Direct experience utilizing valuation techniques and methodologies, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions, with a thorough understanding of ASC 820 and corresponding valuation guidance.

  • Strong ability to analyze and evaluate data, formulate accurate conclusions, and clearly recommend solutions.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial modeling, including experience building models from scratch.

  • Effective project management skills with an awareness of internal business controls.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to forge strong collaborative relationships with internal partners and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, able to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment with limited supervision.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required.

  • Experience with the implementation of valuation systems and tools, including Power BI, is preferred.

  • Finance or accounting designation such as CFA or CPA is preferred
